요슈아 벤지오(Yoshua Bengio)는 몬트리올 대학교(Université de Montréal) 컴퓨터과학 및 운영연구학과의 정교수이며, 퀘벡 인공지능 연구소인 밀라(Mila)의 창립자이자 과학 책임자입니다. 또한, 데이터 가치 창출 연구소(IVADO)의 과학 책임자로 활동하고 있습니다.

그는 인공지능과 딥러닝 분야의 세계적인 선구자로 평가받으며, 2018년 제프리 힌턴(Geoffrey Hinton), 얀 르쿤(Yann LeCun)과 함께 컴퓨터 과학계의 노벨상으로 불리는 A.M. 튜링상을 공동 수상하였습니다 .

그는 캐나다 CIFAR AI 의장(Canada CIFAR AI Chair)으로서, 머신러닝 및 뇌과학 프로그램의 공동 책임자로 활동하고 있으며 , 딥러닝의 윤리적 개발과 안전성 확보를 위한 국제 과학 보고서의 의장을 맡아 인공지능의 사회적 영향에 대한 책임 있는 접근을 주도하고 있습니다.

Yoshua Bengio is a Full Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Operations Research at the Université de Montréal, as well as the Founder and Scientific Director of Mila (Quebec Artificial Intelligence Institute). He also serves as the Scientific Director of IVADO (Institute for Data Valorization).

Widely regarded as a global pioneer in artificial intelligence and deep learning, he was awarded the A.M. Turing Award—often referred to as the “Nobel Prize of Computing”—in 2018 alongside Geoffrey Hinton and Yann LeCun.

As the Canada CIFAR AI Chair, he co-leads the Machine Learning and Brain Program and serves as chair of an international scientific report focused on the ethical development and safety of deep learning. He plays a leading role in advancing a responsible approach to the societal impact of artificial intelligence.
